When he was 18, he had decided he wanted to become a pilot and so he joined the US Air Force. At first, it was hard to be away from his family and friends, but he soon learned to make his own friends in the USAF. He studied hard while in the USAF, and managed to work in the Department of Computer Science when he wasn't flying or going on missions. The amount of pride that he had in serving his country and serving with the USAF helped to form Adam into the man that he is today. When he turned 28, after ten years in the USAF, Adam left to work for his family's company. It was interesting to get back into Boston, to try to live a civilian life, and for a little bit, Adam very clearly struggled. He missed the camaraderie that came with the USAF, and it wasn't something he was really getting at home.
Of course, he had his relationship with his brother Jonathan, and the two of them were pretty much inseparable. Jonathan was everything that Adam wasn't - in the way that the older brother loved the spotlight of being a Trevisan a lot more than Adam did, and so when time came to who would be taking over the company, Adam was actually worried that he wouldn't be made CEO. Of course, he figured he had years to worry about that, and instead he focused on enjoying time with his family and settling back into a normal civilian life. Or as normal as life could be.
But in 2010, a week after Adam turned 30, Stephen Trevisan died of a heart attack. The weeks that followed brought a lot of sorrow and anger to the Trevisan family, especially the brothers who felt their father had passed away way too soon. In the wake of everything, it was revealed that Stephen wanted to name Jonathan CEO of Trevisan International, while Adam would be granted any position that he chose. Adam was angry at first, feeling as though he had worked all his life for that job, to only have it ripped out from him. But soon, he realized it might be a blessing in disguise - Jonathan was far more prone to doing things in the public, where Adam preferred to work behind the scenes. So Adam was named President and Chief Technology Officer, and Jonathan took on the Chief Executive Officer position.
Now in 2015, Adam has been serving as the Chief Technology Officer and President for Trevisan International for five years now, and has grown to love his job. He misses flying, but he does what he can to make sure he sometimes allows himself to get his head in the clouds.
In his free time, Adam likes to be active - be it rock climbing, mountain biking, or participating in triathalons, Adam has always lived a very active lifestyle. He's always felt that life is way too short to just be sitting on the couch, and this is also partly why he had enjoyed the US Air Force as much as he did. He was able to explore the world, go on adventures, and never had a dull moment. Now that Adam is a civilian, he tries his best to continue to live his life with no dull moments, but work does seem to put a damper on that from time to time.
He's also known as someone who loves to joke around, he's got a very easy going personality that not many truly understand, and he can be a bit more bohemian in ways than in others. He doesn't particularly like social rules (ie: the man has to ask the woman out, etc) and loves to hang around those who have the same modern view as him.

Nathaniel Christopher Adam, alias Captain Atom was a United States Air Force officer of the Vietnam War era. Adam had been framed for a crime he didn't commit and sentenced to death under the watch of Col. Wade Eiling in 1968. As an alternative to execution, he was invited to participate in a military experiment with little chance of survival, in exchange for a presidential pardon. The experiment involved testing the hull of a crashed alien ship's durability by exploding a super nuclear bomb under it. Adam survived as the metal melted into his body and the excess energy threw him forward in time nearly twenty years (not incidentally, this coating with alien metal gave the revised character a full-body silvered metal look distinctly different from his previous incarnations).
Regaining coherence in 1986, Adam found himself a man out of his time and in the hands of Eiling, now a general and the second husband of Adam's now-deceased wife. Everyone had assumed that Nathaniel Adam had died on the day of the experiment, so his presidential pardon was never issued and the current government refused to acknowledge the previous administration's promised pardon. Seizing the opportunity at hand, the government used the outstanding murder/treason charges against Adam to blackmail him into being a government-controlled superhero (codenamed Captain Atom). And in keeping Adam's true origin a secret, the government gave him an origin and he was assigned the alias of Cameron Scott, an Air Force intelligence operative. It was during this time he met the superpowered terrorist, Plastique, who would become a recurring part of Nathaniel's life. (More Information on DC Wikia
